Gadgetry

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

In addition to a highly anticipated computer, once university hits, I realized that I may be in the market for a few other electronics. For instance, assuming I go away for university, I’ll need to get another digital camera, unless my parents are content with regressing back to the huge film eating monster. Also, I may or may not need a B&W laser. They’re quite cheap, actually. And finally, now may be the time to get a better MP3 player. I don’t fancy the idea of having to start up VMWare to record a new Minidisc. Well, there’s at least four hundred Canadian currency units gone.

x to the Squared

Today, I sat in the music room during my spare, looking at oddly shaped triangles and parallelograms with ticks and marks in the sides. Frustrated that the shapes weren’t magically turning into completed solutions after fifteen minutes as they usually do, I decided to take a break from the mind-wracking algebra and geometry problems and dove into some lovely stoichiometry, which did complete itself in a matter of minutes. My Head A’splode

Monday, September 19th, 2005

My head is going to explode around that time when October rolls around. Why? Because I am so close to university that I’m beginning to spend my time looking at any information I can find on the University of Waterloo website. Such information as scholarships (must keep 90 average for $2000), residences (I’m looking at UW Place or Mackenzie King Village), meal plans, stuff around campus, courses, textbooks, etc. Keep in mind that I’m only about two or three weeks into Grade 12. Well, 255 days until June 2 (the last day that Waterloo’s sending out acceptances). Oh hey, 255 is 11111111 in binary, or FF in hex. My goodness I want to get out of West Hill. It’s driving me to the outskirts of sanity. Some might argue that I’m already there.

Not-Really-Sleepover

Movies: Back to the Future and Ocean’s Twelve. I only watched Back to the Future for the 88 MILES PER HOUR!! Otherwise, the movie was quite boring. Ocean’s Twelve however was quite entertaining. While not as grand a heist as in Ocean’s Eleven, the group still had that chemistry going on.

Anyway, being guys, everyone was hungry by the time the movies finished, which was about 1:30. We decided to go eat. So we went for Dim Sum and ate until 3:00 am. While not the healthiest thing to do, it was quite tasty and fun. Oily chinese food (have you noticed that regardless of whether it’s been steamed or fried that it’s still just as oily?) for the win.

News from Ye Olde Weste Hille

Quite a bit has happened in the past week or so and quite a lot is going to happen in the weeks to come. I really, really want to get out of high school and into university tomorrow. I guess it’s part of the whole final year thing. It also has to do with being trapped in this monotonous place for three years already and that my patience is running at an all time low. Anyway, on to some interesting stuff. (more…)
