They’re Lazy
Hudson wasn’t joking when she said that mathmaticians are lazy. The math department is the only department that I know of that gets their marks from an amount of evaluations that I can count on my fingers. Look at the sciences: they have labs and quizzes frequently and there’s an occassional test. Look at the arts: they have plenty of different kinds of assignments that come frequently as well. Not math. Nope. You get eight tests and an exam and no amount of asking can change that.
Wouldn’t it suck majorly if your English mark were determined by eight essays and an exam?
I asked Voves today if the only thing determining our marks were the eight tests and an exam. She said yes. I asked her if there was any other way to boost my mark, like assignments and the like. She said she couldn’t do it without consulting with Francisco.
We only need to take a look at the other classes in the school. Everyone may be covering the same material, but they’re not doing the exact same thing. I know for a fact that not every other English class is doing vocab tests and timed writings. Why do math teachers demand that everyone does the exact same thing? Notes aren’t being taken the same way, the tests aren’t the same. Why then do the number of assignments and tests have to be the same?
And someone please explain why it is impossible to do remakes in the math department other than ‘we don’t do remakes’? Physics does them, English does them, every other department in the school does them. Not math.
The approach that the math department takes on evaluation is way too rigid and inflexible.
Lazy, lazy, lazy, lazy.

hahaha…ah, quizzes for math. i remember always demanding for them last year…but, ms. Francisco would say that she hasta follow Mr. Racine. Now that Mr. Racine isn’t here..haha, she’s in charge of calc i guess. hahaha=)

of course he will! its Tim!
Math genius — Look out Waterloozers here comes the BIG winner!
I’ll bet they have two calc teachers every year just for that purpose.
“I really wish we could do quizzes, but we have to follow the other teacher person.”
Ah well, 249 more calendar days to go.
