Fox
So far, FOCS, West Hill’s Christian fellowship, has met up a total of four times, including SYATP. Here’s what has happened so far.
So for SYATP we had these posters put up. I printed about 15 of them to put in the hall with the family studies rooms and the math hall. I figured that they’d be visible enough. Turns out I have to do what they do during SAC elections, basically plaster them all over the school. That, or make bigger posters. Anyway, the actual SYATP turnout was quite nice, with about seven people. We prayed and talked about FOCS and went on with our day. I figured we’d get a nice group going for the next meeting.
There weren’t that many people. Slightly disappointed, but not at all uncommon. No one new and a few people from last year, all of whom I know. We just talked and drew on a pineapple.
The next week was even worse. There was no announcement, so no one showed up except for basically everyone around our locker.
And then this week. I liked this week. We had two new Grade 9s! Sadly, I don’t remember their names, since my left index finger was bleeding profusely from getting caught in a door. And surprise, surprise, Francisco walks in and starts talking with Mirkopoulos.
Some backstory is required. Last year, a few of my friends had Francisco for math. Apparently, she’s not the greatest teacher in the world. People tell me that if you can learn on your own, you’re good. Otherwise, you’re screwed. And the year before that, she stopped in the hall during exams or the Lit test while we were having lunch to inspect what we were eating. Out of curiosity.
Anyway, it turns out that Francisco is interested in being the staff sponsor for FOCS. I’m assuming that she’s a Christian, since I was concentrated on my bleeding finger while she was talking with Jermaine. That would also explain why Ignite met in Room 210, back in the day.
Today’s program then went on without much more abnormality.
After the program was done, everyone left early. Me, Ryan, and Jermaine hung back and were wondering what to do about next week. Ryan reminded us about Operation Christmas Child and that train of thought led us onto an interesting track.
Instead of having FOCS members bring in things for Operation Christmas Child, why don’t we have the entire school bring things in, and FOCS will sort through it and pack it? No one else in the school has done anything like it, so we wouldn’t be stepping on anyone’s turf
So much stuff to do before Christmas. And yet, graduation cannot come soon enough.

and of course, remember us little wimpy prefects…who got kicked off the turf of school dances…
are we still kicked off from helping at the dances? haha.
the idea with the school bringing it in would be good…but, u’d really need to throw that idea to the admin…cause i can already see all the implications into that. they wouldn’t be very pleased with the idea that it’s a “Christian” organization..and u may not be able to promote anything about that..but, humanitarian efforts they may be pleased with.
also, yah..i cannot believe i totally forgot about Ms. Francisco. i teach her daughter piano, and i know she’s a pretty dedicated Christian…she even wants her daughter to play Christian piano music (yah, im teaching her It is well with my soul at the moment). She’s actually an awesome person…besides the whole calculus teacher part. I really enjoy talking to her. Such a nice teacher=)
I’m excited to hear about the 2 new gr. 9s who came..and i hope they’ll come back. PLEASE remember to at least write their names down so u could pray for them during the week…and if u see them in the halls, say hi to them=) it’s really important just because it could be so intimidating for a gr 9 to come into highschool..haha, sorry if im being naggish=) it’ll be great…FOCS..so exciting. pleas continue to keep me updated about what’s going on.
make home forms do their own box, and then have something for the class with the most boxes. our school…(was my school) was crazy at that.
