Mathie-ness

Tuesday, March 28th, 2006

Over the past year or so, my interest in math has gone up, even though my marks have shot down. If I weren’t a computery person, I’d probably have gone into math at Waterloo. I mean, from all of the OAC textbooks I’ve been reading, I think I would have liked the OAC Algebra and Geometry and Calculus courses. (more…)

Anyone know a good place to get faceplates? Both of the ones that came with my Z200 are cracking pretty badly.

It seems like I have to replace (upgrade) everything once I get into university because everything has something wrong or grossly inferior about it.

Yes, I know I’m late, but wow. Just wow. TC2006 has come and gone, but it was one of the best times I’ve had. These four days that have just taken up my March Break were amazing. But, my TC2006 adventures started way back in December though, during the logo contest and the volunteer retreat. (more…)

TC 2006 Day 4

Friday, March 17th, 2006

The final day of TC. Uploaded seven pictures of the final worship session to flickr.

Today, I decided to skip the rec presentation practices to go to my team’s interaction. That really made a difference for me at TC, in that it was much more enjoyable with a team. We really were incredibly close to being the most spirited team, I think. AV team finally made those cool t-shirts we were thinking about.

Final TC wrapup to follow in the days to come.

TC 2006 Day 3

First day of TC 2006 Senior. Finally, less Hillsong, more new songs. Only took eight photos, uploaded two.

I’ve been thinking about volunteers at TC and teams. I know that they want all of us on teams whenever we’re not doing anything, but I don’t think it’s beneficial at all for us.

For me, being on AV, I’ve barely had any time with my team at all for the past two years. Whenever I have been with my team, it’s been awkward, because everyone is getting to know one another, and I just pop in and out because I have to go to practices and stuff. This year, I think it’s worse because I’m only with them during rec and I’ve missed all of my interactions today. I must seem like a random dude that just pops out of nowhere.

That’s why I didn’t join a team at Junior. It’s totally awkward and is only really to keep us busy.

The other thing is that it’s very demanding and tiring. After doing media or worship, everyone involved is probably ready to sleep. But, what do we have after media? Rec.

So yeah, I don’t think there’s any point in putting us onto teams unless we’re going to be there at least for some interactions. I think the volunteers benefit more from interactions with their teams than rec. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have them join a team at all.
