TC 2006 Day 2

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006

Much smoother today. More doing nothing during rec, but I started taking pictures of the ‘tjcac’ teams. Jim Chen is hilarious. Uploaded 15 out of 123 pictures to Flickr. Two more days to go and a whole new crowd.

TC 2006 Day 1

Monday, March 13th, 2006

Since TC this year ends at 9, I actually have time to upload my pictures and write a bit about it. Out of the 75 pictures that I took, only 20 were good, and those were the ones that got uploaded to Flickr.

On Saturday, someone made the observation that TCCC locks everything. It’s impossible to get anywhere because everything was locked. It was impossible to use anything because it was all locked. This has caused much frustration. Even the speaker, today, was like, ‘maybe we should put a few holes in their stuff after’ after much struggling to connect the laptop on the balcony to the sound system below.

It was quite busy until rec, at which point, we all floated around, doing nothing. I eventually planted myself with Jacqueline and Kim, since they, SMUs, were like us: they had nothing to do for two hours.

Like pretty much every TC I’ve been to, the first day was spent to get the energy going. And like pretty much every time I serve on AV for an event, there’s something crazy going on.

I must say that I like this year because the team has actually gotten together and are beginning to know one another. We also got together with media and worship and prayed and stuff, and on Sunday, we went out before Concert of Prayer.

More summaries after each day and one giant overview after everything’s done.

SEED Destiny Final Plus

Friday, March 10th, 2006

Gundam SEED Destiny’s ending sucked. Basically, all of the character development that went into the new characters for the forty-nine episodes prior went down the hole so that the old characters could save the day. Thankfully, they released an alternate ending, and though I could not remember what really happened, not all that much changed. But, what they did do was add about fifteen minutes of epilogue. That really salvaged the ending, because it let the new characters not just get royally owned like they were before.

The thing I’ve learned about Gundam is that it’s not about mecha. Yes, there are mecha, and they fight quite often, but after a while, the fights get kind of monotonous. They do the same things. Gundam is about politics. Both Wing and SEED feature a main character who can lay waste to an entire opposing army and their love interest who is the daughter of a politician, who eventually becomes the most important and powerful character in the series because they become queen of the world and such. The ‘final boss’ is always a head of state who goes completely off the deep end and ends up trying to completely annihilate the opposing side.

Intermission 2

Exams are done. Now I am free to run around and finish my English assignment and take on random projects.

In other news, OUAC lets me know that they’ve sent out university marks to the universities. That begs the question: why did our school wrest our marks from us almost a month before they were due? I know they need a bit of time to get whatever they have to do with these done, but really, a month? That’s a few weeks I could have used to get my average back up to 90.
