Styling

Something that’s bugged me about LaTeX is the insane difficulty of installing new fonts. I guess that’s just a sign of its age, but I have all of these great fonts that I can’t use because I don’t have the time or patience to learn how to change fonts from OpenType to TeX font metrics. Another thing that’s bugged me is how hard it is to position things, to draw things, and manipulate things that aren’t text. Continue reading

A Word on Prom

It’s finally the end of the year and that has brought us Prom. I’m probably the last person who would have gone to Prom, but I went. Seeing everyone looking all snazzy and taking pictures with each other was fun. Was it the most important thing in my life? No, not really. Did I go afterpartying? No, it’s not really my thing. Was it the most fun I’ve ever had? Well, no. Maybe it’s because I didn’t have a date and danced or whatever, but meh. That’s not to say that it wasn’t fun; it was quite enjoyable. It’s nice, but it’s not so great that I’d go to more than one of these, like those crazy Grade 11 kids. Anyway, the (eight) pictures that I took are on my flickr; I have pictures on other peoples’ cameras.

Sucked In

Second, I was going to wait until I got into university to check it out because I heard about it from that guy on the Internet, Bryan Veloso, who was Facebook’s Creative Director and the reason why Facebook doesn’t look like a piece of crap (like Myspace!). If it wasn’t for him talking about it on Avalonstar, I probably would have said “Screw off” to Facebook as well.

We are SAVED!

If there’s one thing I learned at Campus Challenge, it’s to always, always have you camera with you. Yeah, I left my camera in my room, and then we took pictures, and I didn’t take any, and now I have to show off the rest of my small group’s pictures. And yes, our small group was called Saved. And whatever you do…

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

I’m glad I went to Campus Challenge. I wasn’t going to go because it was $165 and I’d already been spending a lot of money on things this year because it was Grade 12. Eventually, I was persuaded enough by my friends to go, to see what’s going on in university. Continue reading
