You@Waterloo Day

I went in to Waterloo today to have a look at the residences before I decide which one we’re going to shoot for. Getting there in the morning wasn’t too bad. Not a lot of traffic, so we got there a few minutes after Everything Glorious finished, which is almost an hour and a half.

The first thing I did was head over to the SLC to hand in my Residence Deposit. When I got home, I got an e-mail confirming they got it, which is a lot speedier than they usually are. I also got this outline of the day, and at the bottom, there was a coupon for 15% off at the UWShop and a ticket for a drawing to win free textbooks for Fall 2006. I also asked a guy with an SE t-shirt where I could get an SE t-shirt.

The first res that we stopped at was REV. REV is really, really far. Looking at the map, I didn’t think it’d be really significant, but it took a few minutes to get from the SLC to REV. REV isn’t that bad. It’s not as awful as Trent. It’s decent, but I still wouldn’t want to be there.

The next res we were at was MKV. MKV is nice. It’s really clean everywhere, and it’s air conditioned. They’ve got private bathrooms and private rooms and there’s a decent amount of space. I’d like to get in, but it’s a tad expensive.

We stopped by V1, but we didn’t go around, since we saw the place last time. I wouldn’t mind being at V1, since there aren’t that many double rooms. Interconnecting rooms are such a good idea I don’t know why there aren’t more of them. It’s also the closest one out of the three.

The last res we were at was the one I really wanted to see, UWP. UWP is also quite decent, and it’s nice to have a suite. The four people rooms are a lot nicer, in my opinion, than the double rooms. They mentioned that those ones got renovated recently. UWP is also pretty close to the engineering buildings, which is a plus for me, but it’s kind of a pain if you’re not since it’s literally on the other side of campus.

Before we took a look at UWP, we stopped at the UWShop to see if there was anything cool. My dad found this t-shirt bundle of two shirts for $25. They were plain with the UW logo on the left and one was black and the other was gold. I picked up one of those and a hoodie that my dad found for $30, which was powder blue. What was nice was that they take 15% off before tax, so we actually ended up paying less than the sticker price. That was $53.73 down the drain for a hoodie and two t-shirts.

Very nice day, just going around the residences and getting UW merchandise.
