As an IB student, this kind of stuff doesn't really affect me. I mean, I've taken grade 9, grade 10, grade 11, and grade 12 maths already and I am currently heading into what should be grade 12/my second and final year of IB.
For us, we do essentially what is one course in the time of a normal course but with material that's sufficient to complete both the Ontario Diploma/Credit requirements and the ones for the IB program. This means I'm (in every class) earning two credits in the time it takes for normal OSSD students to do one.
I did grade 12 Advanced Functions and Relations this year along with an entire Algebra Geometry, plus half of my Finite Mathematics course. I earned 2.5 math credits this year by taking math every single day and cramming the extra .5 of Finite in the last ~3 months of school (it wasn't really that bad since we finished everything else early).
Next year I'll tackling the rest of Finite (aka: Data Management for the OSSD) and Calculus. Then I'll have to write a massive IB exam (consisting of 3 papers, one each day, and worth 80% of my final mark) on everything from this year and what I'll be learning in the coming one. It's a little insane but not too bad if you're the right kind of person (read: insane).
I say let the Ontario government change all they want. Makes absolutely no difference to me since I'm f***ed (thanks to IB) to begin with.

Not all Arts majors need to take it. Those who do (business, econ, etc.) will. And the little arrows on top of the variables will own them.

Non-semestered schools are making the calc course semestered. So it's like careers and civics all over again, only with math and every day!

I don't see how Arts majors will be screwed however - why are they even taking calc and vectors?
