I like how I went through the trouble of changing my theme to a format that displayed more than two posts at a time back then, in hopes that I’d write shorter posts more frequently but didn’t.
I’ve finally gotten around to redesigning my blog. Well, not so much redesign as find a suitable theme that I would be pleased with. I decided not to mess around with the hacked Kubrick that I modified years ago, back on WordPress 1.5. It’s expected that after three years of incremental changes, there would be a ridiculous amount of cruft in there.
I also don’t have the time to fine-tune everything anymore and it’s a waste of time trying to solve a problem that’s already been solved. So, I’ll leave it up to those with better skills and more time to come up with a solution that I’m satisfied with. And well, this is it. It’s exactly what I wanted out of a theme: simple and clean, well organized, and well typeset.
ブラックメイジシューター 何処へ行ったの? 聞こえますか?
Also notable is the fact that, for the first time in a long time (it looks like close to five years), I’ve changed the name of my blog. I even changed the black mage that I use as my avatar. It’s based on the ryo/supercell song and character, black★rock shooter/ブラック★ロックシューター (if you’re wondering why the singing is a bit off, it’s because it’s not a person singing, but a computer program). My guy kept his red hat because honestly, I had no idea what colour to change it to.
So as you can all probably tell, I have a problem with keeping my blog regularly flowing with thoughts from my head. I think that the problem stems from me having less large contiguous blocks of time for me to write my wall of text epics, the type of post that I most enjoy. Unfortunately, this means that I had to sacrifice a lot of things that I would have liked to talk about. These things might be lost forever, as they may have been time-sensitive or just simply forgotten.
I can’t say I’ll promise to post more often, because I’ve promised that to myself a lot and it seems obvious that I have produced nothing but fail on that part. But, I look at the front page and am hugely disappointed that I have averaged about a post a month since the term started, but I have had so many things that I wanted to talk about. Maybe I’m just really good at keeping myself too busy or maybe I’m just too married to the vast fields of text that I produce.
It has now been almost a year since this place started and it has been quite fun. It’s nice to have a place to rant and rave and have your opinion count sometimes. I’ve learned a lot in the last year through all of this blogging and to celebrate, I’ve decided to redesign (realign, reboot, whatever you want to call it) again.
Now I know that this place has seen a lot of “redesigns”. They were pretty crap. I just wasn’t happy with what I was churning out. I had this great idea and I had to dilute it down a lot because a lot of the time, I just couldn’t do it with my sucky skills. This time, I think I’ve got it down. Let’s have a walk through it. (more…)
For two hours today, the orangesimile.net account was suspended. At first, the server was moving really slowly while I was trying to link to the Child’s Play site. Anyway, later I couldn’t even get on to my site. I have a look on the Network Redux announcement blog and notices that there’s a delinquent on our server, Thames, and that a user got removed. Hooray, justice wins again.
Then I noticed I still couldn’t get on my site. Then I noticed all the other orangesimile sites were down. And then I couldn’t log on to CPanel.
